NAPCORE Alternative Fuels – 1st Workshop

On the 6th of May we had our first NAPCORE Workshop on AFIR data. Organised in cooperation with the European Commission and with contribution from the EVRoaming Foundation, EAFO (FIER), DATEXII, Eco-Movement, Charge Up Europe and E-mobility Europe.

During the workshop we had a peak attendance of 125 people in the meeting with a lot of discussion points raised by many. This is a flattering number that reflects the great interest for interaction on this topic, but also an indication for NAPCORE that we serve a need with these sessions. We understand that a lot of information was shared during the workshop. To facilitate your follow-up, you can find here the slides presented. Main talking points where the need to continue implementation work under the AFIR regulation, including the current progress on the set-up of the Common European Access Point and what may be expected of this development that is being worked on throughout 2026. I think it was also particularly positive to hear that EVRoaming Foundation is working towards CEN standardisation for OCPI and that there is a good collaboration between OCPI and DATEX II as standards that are foreseen to work alongside each other in this data domain. Worthwhile where also the notes from Eco-movement, ChargeUp Europe and E-mobility on the lack of harmonisation of National Access Point s (NAPs) and the lack of completeness of data available in various Member States at this moment in time. This is a very valid concern and a topic NAPCORE is working on with all Member States, also for all data items that fall under the ITS Directive.

Again, many thanks to all for joining this workshop and actively taking part. Sharing these concerns and listening to each other viewpoints provides us all with key perspectives on how to continue working to make the data ecosystem for alternative fuels stronger. Therefore, we would like to use this opportunity to share at this moment in time the save-the-date for the next workshop:

            September 25th, 2026 from 9:00 to 12:00 (CET) – Digital meeting via Teams

In addition to this, we will also plan a workshop during the NAPCORE Mobility Days which will take place on the 25th and 26th of November in Athens. We aim for this to be a hybrid session. More information on this one will follow in due time.
